I think tranny prob. not sure though???
O.K. first just like to say HI! been a real long time since I have even come by here but have really not had any problems with my car till now. Anyway onto the problem my engine idles real rough like vibrates not so bad that the car will fall apartbut enough to know something is wroung no fluctuation in rpm just vibrates. Until i press the clutch in then it stops vibrating. any ideas? oh ya and when i start out in the first couple gears kinda get this weird sound almost lick something grinding !

well is it shaking because of too low rpms (below 700)? cause that is a simple intake cleaning of the throttle body and idle air valve. thats what it sounds like to me. if you blip the gas to raise the rpm does the vibration go away?
Re: I think tranny prob. not sure though???
not that i am doubting you cause you probably know more about cars then me but if that were it why would pressing the clutch make it go away. oh ya i took it to honda they said it was the bearings or something r other. oh ya forgot to say my rpms when at idle are around 1000 and stay once it is warmed up just i dont really trust mechanics all that much because well they know more then me and i am car dumbcan replace things just cant trouble shoot.

throwout bearing? i didnt read enough of the post i guess. esp if theres grinding, then yeah its gonna be expensive clutch repairs.
Re: I think tranny prob. not sure though???
yeah they quoted me 1300 bucks for the job. all new bearings and new clutch and labor. not sure how bad the clutch really is but it has 65,000 miles so i guess if they are gonna do one thing might as well to it all. just as well i haven't had a car payment in 5 years. but that is exactly what they told me at honda dealership.

If the noise goes AWAY when he presses in the clutch then its DEFINATLY not the throwout bearing. Its the input shaft bearing. Ive replaced so many of them its not even funny.
