Run 8 seconds and die
Can anyone HELP?
I have a 2002 honda civic si 2.0L ivtec. Car has been running great, Drove to
friends house fine. Came out to leave two hours later and car will start and run for about 8-10 seconds and die. It will restart every time and run agin for 8-10 sec. and die. I have checked the fuses,power from ignition switch,spark from coils to plugs,power to injectors,fuel pump relays are good,power to fuel pump and can hear it run and got oil presure. Only code I have is o2 sensor, But it was there for about a week and the car has been running fine,Till now. Nothing seems to be bad. Can anyone give me some good advice other then take it to a dealer? Thanks!

Yes it has 1/2 tank of gas. The fuel pump runs. I even took it out of the tank and tested it on bench. Can the pump run and not build pressure? If it didn`t have pressure,would it start back up right away? It does. I checked the connectors going to the injectors with a tester for that and that is working OK. Put a spark tester between coil and plugs, has spark right up to when it dies. If the timing was off, I don`t think it would start as easy as it does or be able to rev it up to 5000rpm. Its easier to make a helicopter fly, Then to get a HONDA to run. Thanks for the reply, and I will check the fuel pressure.

Checked fuel pressure, book says it should be 47-52psi. My gauge reads 53psi. Everything checks out to be OK, But will still only run for 8-10 sec. and die. I give up. Time to junk this honda and get a FORD FOCUS!!!!! Thanks agin for your suggestions.

last time i heard something like this happen was when a car came in to the shop. owner said the same things. we searched everywhere and final i took the gass tank apart. found sooooooooooooooo much sugar in there. it was blocking the fuel pump and killing the pressure. also you might want to check the ignition cuz some times it will start up and slowly vibrate back to off.
