So, it's been really crazy weather here lately. 60 one day and single digits the next. I have a '92 with the D15B7 (IIRC). It has been running fine, and making what I would consider to be normal noise levels. Since it has been "COLD", I noticed that it has gotten gradually louder even idling. It sounds like clatter, so I'm wondering if the rockers are being affected by the temps. Are Hondas normally this sensitive to cold temps? I have read other threads about them being noisy and requiring adjustment every "X" miles, but it seems strange to me for a motor to change this drastically.

The cold makes your oil thicker well not really but it cools it down so the engine has a harder time moving it, which is why people put 5w 30 in there engine during the winter and 10w 30 in the summer. anyways the oil could have caused the valves to get loose needing adjustment. Now mind you dont think your engine is gonna blow up dont be to scared of ticks, knocks are not your friend. Have them adjusted when you have the time and money.

I'm using full synthetic 5w30 for just that reason, but you're right, it does thicken slightly when cold. It's supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow, so I'll check it out then, I hope.
