Window keeps jumping off track?
Window keeps jumping off track?
i hope i have the right fourm for this question. My driver side window keeps jumping off track. I removed to door panel and the rubber "flap" that the window glides up behind (that runs up the door to glide the window up and down till it gets down inside the door) The window keeps going out infront of it rubber and throws the window out of the door. I can't keep the glass from coming out from behide the rubber and I am affraid that the glass will come all the way out one day. Please help if anyway possible. If i need more detailed info just let me know and I will see what I can do. Thanks so much in adavance.
Re: Window keeps jumping off track?
probally needs a new window regulator( the thing with the motor that runs the glass up and down). before you replace that make sure the run channels are properly in place. the regulators get loose after time and wobble back and forth. the way to check for this is to put the window halfway down, and see if you can rock the glass towards the back of the vehicle and towards the front. If it moves at all, its bad.

i get my window back on track and checked like you said, i don't get any wobble but i get the window up to maybe about 1 or 2 inches from the top and it binds. its like it WANTS to roll up but doesn't makes a loud clicking noise and gets stuck. i sprayed lithium grease in there do you think that was enough or is silicone the one and only answer? i hope i don't need new regulators.....

Re: Window keeps jumping off track?
The piece that holds your window to the slider thats glued on to your window might have broken off. The best thing to do would be to take out the regulator and the window and inspect them. Its not too hard. theres a DIY in my signature for removing the window regulator.

Re: Window keeps jumping off track?
Anyone know if the front & rear "sashes" (lower tracks for the glass when it's down in the door) come new with the rubber channel already in place ??

The rubber keeps repeatedly popping out on my rear sash near the bottom, and it slows the window way down when lowering it.
Thanks,
Edit: Something tells me that rubber insert is part of the rubber trim that goes clear around the top channel.
How about ideas on keeping it in place ?? dab of goop glue in the metal channel maybe ??

try some 3m windoweld ribbon sealer, the black butyl stuff. its basically dynamat without the foil and it sticks to just about anything. it is moldable but not permanent, its just very sticky and i use it to hold all kinds of things in place that glues usually wouldnt work on.

yeah i got it from kragen. it has a hole in the package so you can stick your finger in to feel it. its basically on a roll and you cut what you need. it stretches and sticks where you press it. great for sealing headlights and other odd jobs. it does slightly conduct electricity, so dont use it on electrical switches or circuits.
