2009 Civic EX Cold Air Intake Help :)
Hey I have just purchased a new 09 civic Ex with the stock R18A2 set up and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of a top of the line cold air intake to put in. I would prefer it to be red to match my overall engine bay color scheme, does anyone have any suggestions on a good Intake for my R18? I'm not looking for major performance since my car is an automatic but i would like to boost it some. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

You may want to talk to dealer before putting on an intake. It could easily void your warranty. They may want to blame it for anything that may (but hopefully would not happen) to your engine. Cold air intake is also closer to wheel. Depending where you live, you may have trouble with sucking up water.
If anything, I would suggest a simple K&N air filter. Million mile warranty, about 1 more hp to the wheels, and better gas mileage. That way, dealer can't say anything.

I have verified with my dealer about my warranty and I also looked into a intake pipe water filter to filter out any water sucked into the intake. I also inquired into the filter placement and it is located at the top of the engine bay. I spoke with a few people and was also informed that with the R18 setup water being sucked into the intake is not a very large problem since the intake is quite shielded from the bottom end of the bay.

I have no idea what the engine looks like underneath the hood. But if it's truly a cold air intake it would need to be at least relatively close to the wheel (IMO). Good luck though!

The weapon r you found is pretty awesome-looking. I tried looking for intakes and there really aren't any red CAI (other than filter) except for AEM and stuff.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I agree with midnightrook about the k&n air filter. Or just try to find a short ram one instead of the cai. Cuz there's always a chance where it can suck up water.
Re: 2009 Civic EX Cold Air Intake Help :)
Two days ago I bought my first new car as well same exact setup as you..Mine is black idk what yours is but definetly let me know how the sort ram works for u cuz I was considering doing the same, and it definetly does not affect the warranty at all does it?
Re: 2009 Civic EX Cold Air Intake Help :)
i have a injen cai on my 06 civic lx and love it...yes it does go down by the drivers side wheel well but i havent ever had ne issues with it sucking water at all....i think aem is the only company that makes a intake in red for the 8th gen's thought but i have heard of rubbing and fitment issues with aem
and my car is automatic also n i mod the **** out of it as much as possible...lol

Re: 2009 Civic EX Cold Air Intake Help :)
I have a AEM CAI and it runs into my bumber (where there is a possibily for water to get in) but so far i have had no problems. I live in Vancouver BC and all it does is rains. If i where to buy a CAI again i would buy a shorty instead for the water reason and then you can just pop your hood and take the filter off and clean it, as supose to taking my tire off and the plastic wheel well guards. Also on the rubbing isue it is tight but i havent had any isues, you just go to fiddle with it when installing it to get it in the right position. I have not tried the injen so i dont know, from what i hear it is better, but you want the red so... iduno
Just my opinion

hey bro. i got a 2007 civic ex and i put an aem cold air intake into it. i would highly discourage you from getting a short ram. basic thermodynamics already explain why a cai is better. plus, a short ram sucks in warm air which isnt good for your car. i would suggest aem. my buddy at the shop says theyre one of the better made for hondas.

Hey. I just got an '09 EX Automatic and I'm asking the same thing. I still don't know what I should get. I'm leaning more towards the Weapon R because the CAI can suck in water and I live in FL. It rains a shitload here and there's always puddles...

hi i have a 2007 civic sedan ex and i just got a Weapon SRam intake installed its a really good intake and i would definitely recommend it. Sounds especially good around 4 thousand revs.
Re: 2009 Civic EX Cold Air Intake Help :)
yeah i kinda had to ghetto rigg it though so it doesnt look too attractive cause i have random pipes sticking in the air but hey it does the job. but the ram air kit i think is just a publicity stunt.......theres hardly any room in the bay to put it i mean the battery is in the way and thats one of the reasons i went with a weapon and not a K&N but i think it will do just fine as a SR
