I have a 98 LX as well and I just put an AEM short ram on this fall
What are you having trouble with? The box on top of the throttle body should come off no problem and then just remove the air filter and its housing and then slide the rubber gasket halfway over the opening and then simply slide the new intake on down till she butts up and tighten things up and viola!

Exactly what i did and i have a 99 lx, it slips right on. There is only two bolts to deal with when you take the stock air intake box off. once thats out of the way its pretty straight forward, unless the air intake you got is for the model 98 civic...

Yeah, the stupid air box thing needs to come off too
It is the thing behind the passenger side headlight that the end of the intake rests on
You gotta remove that to make room for the filter
