Using '03 Civic struts for '02 Civic

Using '03 Civic struts for '02 Civic Honda dealer sold me front struts for 2003 Honda Civic by mistake when I ordered struts for a '02 4 door LX ( I should have verified the part number at the time of purchase, but did not). Auto mechanic, who I took my car too, installed these struts and said they fit.
Does anyone have experience using '03 civic struts for an '02 civic ? Is it ok to use these struts or is it a safety risk ? These are the Honda part numbers for the '03 struts:
51605-S5A-A09 and 51606-S5A-A09.
The Honda part numbers for the '02 struts are
51605-S5A-307 (right strut) and 51606-S5A-307 (left strut)
