Removing K-series tranny

Has anyone removed the transmission from their k-swap without having to pull the entire engine? My transmission is making an odd rattle/vibration, but it is not when the clutch is pushed in. It appears to make this noise after I have shifted gears and the clutch pedal is released. I have a feeling I may have to remove the transmission now, and wanted to know if anyone has removed it without unbolting the engine/tranny? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Removing K-series tranny

if your doin this on jack stands in the garage better hope you can lift the car like 2 - 3 feet in the air. but yea you can do it. it's not as hard as it seems. just remove the sub frame trans mounts starter shifter linkage and unbolt the trans for the most part. what i do with the axles is just pop them out of the trans leave the other end still in the knuckle. i mean i usually work on a lift at work. but ill be glad to help just p.m. me

yes i have done it with a jack and a couple jackstands. the car need to be high. you remove everything except for the passenger side motor mount so it pivots down at an angle. I think it is easier than pulling the d17 tranny

Excellent.....thanks for the advice. I have been getting a loud buzz/vibration/rattle from my tranny and Im not sure whats going on yet. It's not quite a grind, and it goes into every gear fine. It just does it after I let off the clutch after I go into a gear. At least I know that it can be done without something ridiculous.

Re: Removing K-series tranny

i would recommend 4 jack stands(2 for the car) for this job and maybe an extra hand since the k series tranny is so heavy
