AAA Don't Cover aftermarket Deck?

My car got broken into last night. I called AAA this morning to file a new claim for my broken windows and stolen deck. They said they will cover the windows but not the deck cause is not original oem. I don't get it cause 2 years ago my parents car got broken into and they cover the aftermaket deck. New Policy?

just like an insurance company you have to let them know when you install something in your car such as an aftermarket deck. also provide them with a receipt so they know how much its worth

File the claim for the OEM deck, it'll probably get you more money.

Re: AAA Don't Cover aftermarket Deck?

ya they will not insure any aftermarket items. The way around this is to ge renters insurance. This sounds wierd but I just renewed my insurance this week and added renters insurance. It cost me 139 for the whole year. If your car is broken into and your laptop is stollen it is not covered under your car insurance but will be covered in renters.... Hope this makes sence for ya! like said above just file for the oem deck then when ya get that chack go get and alarm and a new after market deck.

Re: AAA Don't Cover aftermarket Deck?

or you could also insure everything with home insurance from your parents. like laptops and **** thats normally in your car. but that doesnt solve your problem right now. so its just a suggestion for the future

Re: AAA Don't Cover aftermarket Deck?

usually if you have the recepit that proves you bought it and installed it. they'll usually cover it. if you dont it, i would just claim you had a oem deck. The value of the oem deck is usually higher then most aftermarket decks.
