OIL SPRAYING - from one canadian dude

i was wondering, my car has no rust, just got it and i want to rust proof it.
now do I:

1.use ruberized asphalt in a spray can
2.oil spray at the joint and let them drill doors, trunk etc?

have you done any of this, and if you did what method did you use?

There are companies that specialize in rust proofing cars. I would go see one of them before taking a can of WD40 to the car, because that is not going to do anything for long term. Maybe if you coated anti-seize on everything

I've sprayed my car with the oil style rust proofing since day 3 of owning my car. I would have taken the car on day 1 or 2, but I was occupied with my time. Yes they drill holes in your doors, and spray inside your doors. It does leave underneath your hood greasy, and messy. However, it won't really harm your engine. It just doesn't look appealing.

Unless you have a show car, and need to keep your engine bay clean for shows. I'd go with the oil spray rust proofing.

From one Canadian dude to another - Take your car to a specialist that will spray the entire car: undercarriage, under the doors, hood, etc....

I have tried the major ones like rustcheck and Metropolitain (montreal only I guess), and the best is Krown as it is thicker and could last 2 years between sprays.

I recommend you spray the car in September when the weather is still warm, to allow the oil to penetrate well the car and all those small places. I would also recommend you treat it again in May the following year, if you are a freak like myself.

Hope this helps

Cheers

ok i have done it already 3-4 days ago. car is nice and greased up, dripping oil left and right, under the car it looks nice and oily wet... today is the frist day i 'let' my car on the asphalt driveway, its pretty much done dripping now.
they have drilled holes, injected oil in the doors, sills, under the hood, trunk, fender wells.....
now i have to take my '03 vdub also fo an oil spray. i have done it in one newfie oilspraying shop they have been doing it for over 38 years. I hope they know what they are doing...

thanks i will definately do it all over again next year
