Coolant level drops after radiator flush and new water pump
Coolant level drops after radiator flush and new water pump
Hi there.
Last saturday i had the trasmission belt + water pump changed as well as the coolant as standard maintenance.
The mechanic told me that after the car has cool down the level of the coolant would drop and it did.
I was expecting having to top up the level one time, but i did it 4 times already.
Today i drove the car for 45 miles and while the car was hot the coolant level never changed. Then i stopped the car and 3 hours later the level was 1 cm below the 'max' mark.
Is this the air coming out of the circuit or is it something wrong ???
Thanks
(Let me just say that this is a European 1.5 Vtec civic and i was told it doesn't have a drain plug in the engine block, so it was only flushed in the radiator drain plug).

Re: Coolant level drops after radiator flush and new water pump
You should be able to bleed all the air out of the system by taking off the radiator cap WHEN ITS COLD and running the engine untill the fan comes on a couple of times. Top it off if necessary. Then turn off the engine and replace the cap. Finally, fill the resevoir with coolant halfway between the min and max level.
