01 LX Manual Shifting Problems
01 LX Manual Shifting Problems
Hi all, I hope this is the right forum for this; I tried to search but had trouble finding results. Here is my issue: My 2001 LX (109k) has just started becoming very hard to shift; it does this whether running or sitting still just working through the gears. It seems that the issue is when going from odd to even gears (ie 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 etc) but shifts easily when going odd to odd (1-3) or even to even (2-4). No gears grinding, just resistance; it takes 2-3 attempts to get it into the next gear, then it will pop right in and out of that gear easily, but will make the next gear difficult. Any info or tips?
Thanks very much for the help,
Pete

Re: 01 LX Manual Shifting Problems
It could be the shifter box assy under the center console being worn out or it could be the shift forks being worn in the transmission. Does the shifter feel loose when its in gear. Say your in 2nd and you move the shifter around does it more more then 1/4" while still staying in gear. Also do you rest your hand on the shifter while driving?
