Re: cant decide between cold air or dry flow

You're not making a lot of sense, my firend. Flooding your engine with cold air is a REALLY good thing. Cold air is denser and contains more combustible oxygen. The concern with cold air intakes (CAI) vs short ram intakes (SRI) is that the CAI is sometimes located down low by the fender and may suck in water on a rainy day. The other drawback is that there are more bends in the pipe which theoretically slows down the flow of air. The SRI is basically a short pipe that sucks in air from the engine bay which can be hot but the pipe tends to be straight which favors faster air flow. Hot air has less combustible oxygen and can promote detonation because when air is compressed in the cylinder it heats up and becomes easier to ignite.

Re: cant decide between cold air or dry flow

i currently have a 98 ex and i have an AEM CAI. I used to have the optional bypass valve but after 5 years time got the beter of it. b4 i switched to jut a regular coupling i drove on a highway for about 2 hours in one of the worse storms i have ever seen at 80 mphs. i never had any problems other then my low pros were constantly hydro planning. what im saying is that there is a posibility that u could suck up some water but the good news is that most if not all insurance companies wll replace it for free if u hydro lock ur engine. the V2 is great but u need to have a 5 speed.
