hi all, new to the civic world. just had a question about my 97.
i have recently purchased a 97 honda civic ex. it has 220K miles on it. that might seem high but i bought it from a neighbor of mine who bought the car new back in 97. i even remember the day he brought it home. i know the man pretty well, well enough to know that he keeps up good vehicle maintenance. and we all know hondas like to run for at least 350K if they can. i had a del sol with 402K on it, original motor. so i thought it was a good buy.
my question is.. is there anything i can expect from a 97 honda civic ex at a certain higher mileage? i know that some cars are prone to doing certain things when they get to having a lot of miles on them. i was just wondering if any of you that have had a lot of experience with this car could tell me something i may not know. thanks

Based on my experience I expect that this car will burn lots of oil if it hasn't already.
I once owned an Accord and ran that to 300k miles and somewhere around 250k miles you will start to have problems with electrical motors or windings. I expect that you will have problems with your alternator, starter, fuel pump, radiator fan and heater fan. After so many revolutions the brushes just end up wearing out on these items.

Put srs light in your search engine and you'll get more information than you'd ever want
along with some suggestions to make it go off.

not familiar with the srs light but tere should be a local shop arund u that woul be able to help u out. the srs light, if im not mistaking is just like the cel, and has warning information on it. the shop should be able to hook somehthing up to it to check the error. my gues from knowing nothing about any problems is that u may have a lose or blown fuse or maybe a disconnected sensor. have it looked at and post back
