WHat is the difference between the EX and the 1.7i ES model?
I am from Oman. I bought this 2001 Honda Civic Coupe 1.7i ES from Germany and when i bought it the dealers told me in general that the car i have is the exact width, length and height of the EX model used in the US. The same engine 127PS output and same engine size (1.7). It look exactly the same, but i heard there is difference between the ones used in the US and the ones used in UK and couldnt know what was the difference. I am asking who ever is out there and knows anything please email me on kimo996@hotmail.com . There is no after markets here in Oman and the only place i can find any is on the net. All the good stuff is available in the US and i want to buy, but i cant untill i am sure there wont be any problems when fitting any products. I dont know maybe intakes, headers, superchargers, these kind of stuff might not fit (i dont know). I tried my best asking lots of Honda site and they never reply back. I just knew today that the European version of the civic coupe is actaully produced in either Ohio or Alabama and exported to Europe.
Can any one help?

Hi, and welcome to this site.
Sounds to me like you have the exact same model as the EX trim in the US. As for the engine, I'm not too sure what the difference is there. Since it has the same HP , it might actually be the same engine.
As for getting help on parts and products, try posting your questions in the "Products and Parts" forum, as well as in the "Tech Forum" on this site. People here are pretty helpful, even to new members. (But don't forget to do a search first to see if your question has already been answered by other people )
Hope that helps.

Here's some more infor for those who dunno:
CANADA
Coupe
DX LX =117 hp Non-Vtec
Si, Si-G, Si Levoz Edition=127 hp VTec
Sedan
DX LX (*-G's apply to group packages)
Acura 1.7 EL
(V-Tec Sedan, with different head and tailights same body as Civic sedan though,IMO looks way better than Civic Sedan)
Hatchback
SiR= 197hp New 2.0 i-Vtec
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
US
Coupes
HX Not so sure about specs but i think has CVT transmission
DX LX=117 hp
EX=127 hp
Sedans (same as CANADA but no Acura 1.7 EL)
Hatchback
Si
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japan dosen't have the coupe, they got the Civic Ferio, Civic RS which are the Sedans and the Hatchback 2dr/4dr.
For some reason i dunno why the US doesn't followin the coding that Japan and Canada and other countries use to badge the cars...
I'm from Toronto, in CANADA, and i have the LX

sorry it took me that long. i went for asleep last week and woke up today (just joking). well it seems you are loaded with info, please tell me more. your info is making more confident, about stuff.
So what do you mean, if your 2001 EX car model is the ES just like mine then whatever fits on your car should fit mine right?

Yow macko! what does that answer to my question. You made me more confused than before. I know all about the models you mentioned exactly. The 2001 civic actaully started in the US and Canada in production and Japan wasnt any part of it from the first place. I have seen this article on Edmunds or something which says that Japans last civic coupe production was in 2000 and now is the US and Canada turn to do a new competitive look! At the end of the long article it mentioned that Canada versions are built there for Canadian use (for Canada only), while in the US for both the US and the outside poeple. So (Ohia and Alabama Honda) manufactured for the international use (exported world wide from that point). WHen i read that article in common sense from what i have read that the model i have is the exact model used in the US, but when i contacted the Brembo brake company just to check if the brake system they have will fit my car and they told me that the 2001 civic coupe brake system they offer wount fit my car model and they seem sure 100% (they say). So thats why i am here, to see if that is true or not?!?!?!?!

Here what I found and will appreciate who gets me any of the info in this copied email I have pasted:
Dear Serious Message sender :
My specialty is Honda S-Series autos made from 1963 through 1970. As a result I do not know much about current Honda products and am unable to give you direct advise. But I would do this if I were you : Acquire a parts guide from Honda Germany* and the same from a Honda dealer in the USA **check the part numbers, if the same (example rotor / brake hose) then your answer is that a US aftermarket part should fit. If no match then get your aftermarket parts from Germany were the supplier has done the research for proper part fit and use.
*where I got my car from (1.7i ES)
**EX model and the country where I want to buy the aftermarket products for my car
