Re: Frankstien hybrid pistons in a non-frank k24???
perhaps you understod my post wrong...
i'm fitting K24's with the same 87mm bore that the K24 has, but i am not using a K20 head, i'm using a reguler k24 head.
the problem seems to be that every aftermarket piston for the k24 is made for the k24/k20 hybrid...
it will bolt, but i'm concerned about the valve to piston clearence...

Re: Frankstien hybrid pistons in a non-frank k24???
well are the pistons NA or turbo?
i believe i remember reading that the k24 has more deck clearance and a longer stroke so if ur getting pistons made for a frank ur comp ratio is gona be lower

a frank is a hybrid k24/k20 setup, my engine is a reguler k24(i'm atempting to be non-franked) lol
i'm using my stock head, but i'm wondering weather it should sit safley in the block without valve hittin the pistons
i'm going after low compression pistons

turbo pistons are lower comp ratio and are dished. id say just call the place you wana buy the pistons from and ask away

Re: Frankstien hybrid pistons in a non-frank k24???
metal viper what do you mean by deck clearence? do you mean block deck hieght OR "Piston" to deck clearence? or simply... head chamber CC?
the reason i'm asking is because i wonder how would i end up with lower CR's...
and skipbarber... i would really like to know how would a piston designed for 87mm blocks, and that it's actually 87.5mm, can be a DIRECT fit to an 86 mm k20 block!? or are you talking about k20 heads not k20 blocks...
i actually contacted the seller and he told me that there's a possibilty for piston valve contact on a high lift
so that's why i'm woried

head combustion chamber. i havent found the post where i read it but its on H-T somewhere. b/c if there is more area in the combustion chamber there is less compression of air in the chamber.
thats y i said to just call, i dont want to mislead you from a thread i cant show you from a while back if that makes sense
