Problem's with 03 EX Sedan
Hey i am haveing a few problems with my civic, the first one is while i am at idle my heater blows cold, it doesnt do it all the time but every once in awile. The second problem is with the drivers side window. When i roll the window all the way done it goes so slow and sometimes it will even stick. So what might cause this one. I am gonna call honda tomorrow to see how much a motor cost for the window but i want to know if there is a common problem with the window going that slow.
Re: Problem's with 03 EX Sedan
I'm having the same problem as yours - no or little heat from heater at idle and occassional overheating when at idle. From searching the posts, it looks like this was a sign of blown headgasket for some folks. I'm hoping this is not the case for me. So I had the mechanic replace the thermostat - since it was cheap ($25 for OEM part) along with the usual Mobil 1 oil/filter oil change. Unfortunately this didn't solve the problems. As I found that the coolant needed to be added to the radiator when I got home, I'm hoping that the need to add coolant was simply the mechanic's failure to fully rid of air bubbles.
But I'm wondering if I'm in a state of wishful thinking. There's no visible coolant leak and the reservoir is full. I've added about 1/2 gallon of coolant the past two days. If not air bubble, the coolant must be evaporating somewhere.. don't know. I think I might take it to dealer for closer inspection. Having driven 164K miles on my 03 EX Coupe, I wouldn't surprised if the headgasket was bad.
As for your window, haven't had that problem. But our Camry in our family had the same problem. $450 to change the motor assembly (a new motor was all it needed I believe - but the part was available only as part of an entire module and not the motor itself) at the dealer. Problem fixed. Rip off ?.. yeah..

Re: Problem's with 03 EX Sedan
i might give the silicon spray a shot and i dont have any over heating problem just my heater doesnt blow hot, but it does get really hot while driveing.
Re: Problem's with 03 EX Sedan
first, i'd try doing a proper coolant flush and change. don't use your garden hose to flush it, buy distilled water.
if that doesn't work, and you're not overheating, check the heater control valve on the firewall. it has a little blue wire connected to it. have someone sit in the car and turn the key to "ON," then turn the heater controls all the way to hot, then cold. if the valve doesnt move at all, then that's your problem. if it slides with ease from left to right, then it's still good and you might have a blockage in your heater core/bad heater core.

^^^ follow all that info.
then check your radiator fan switch and your thermostat. If all checks out well, everything is the way it should be, and you flushed/bled your cooling system then you have a blown head gasket.
Happened to me on my car. fixed the headgasket and problem was solved instantly.
