6th GEn Engine
6th GEn Engine
Hi all,
I was hoping that someone would know about the Stock engines that were put into the 98 and 99 Civic Coupe SI. I am in Canada so i assume that model corresponds to the canadian version. I was hoping that one of them has VTEC and DOHC technology.
Thanks for all the replies!

Re: 6th GEn Engine
what you want to exactly know?
US civic ex came with d16 127hp sohc with vtec-E (Si canadian)
US civic SI came with b16a2 160hp DOHC with performance vtec (canadian sir)
will the si motor drop into the ex. Yes. You can also drop in a integra gsr motor b18c1 with 170hp DOHC.

Re: 6th GEn Engine
so the major upgrade from d16 & b16 is DOHC, 35+hp, and low end Torque right?? What about the redline issues, brakes, suspension as to how much i can push my car without many upgrades.(hopefully keeping it as much as possible Stock for now)

Re: 6th GEn Engine
The sir comes with better suspension and brakes. There is a huge difference between the B and D series engines. If you can try to get a B series engine. A used USDM civic si goes for $4500-6000 US now. Its worth it pay the extra money for the SIR.
redline on the b16 is 8200rpm and i think the d16 is around 6800rpm.

Re: 6th GEn Engine
its pretty straight forward. I believe you just need to buy b-series mounts. A experienced honda tuner can finish the swap in about a day. Just do a search on Honda-tech.com for more details.
