Your Thoughts: Who's Gonna Win???
Was just thinkin about this so if anybody knows the exact specs lets see em.
Who would win at a red light, the 6th gen 99-00 Civic Si or the 7th gen 2k2 Si? The hatch may be lighter(? i dont know havent seen any specs)but can only be taken to 6800rpms as the 6th gen can go to 8000...also maybe the i-VTEC will play a part somebody post some specs and lets hear some opinions

There's so many aftermarket products for the 6th gen Si, the 99-00 is likely to be a faster car in general... but stock, it would be close
hey it depends on how fat you are and how fat the other person is
but to choose between looks and not performance
a whole lot of people would say that the 99/00 coupe was the best looking civic si

lol
I would say the 2k2 hatch. It has the advantage in torque and weight. I dont think the 1200 difference in redline will be able to compensate enough to allow the 6th gen the win. IMO it would be a drivers race.

<< I thought the 2k2 hatch was HEAVIER than the 99/00 Si >>
I also have heard this as well. Thats why I asked for specs... If it is heavier, than that would even the playing field between the i-VTEC and torque considering there both 160hp

2k2 Si is a 2.0L sporting 132 ftlbs Torque, EM 6G Si is 1.6L 111ftlbs Torque, both 160hp. Still no specs on the weight tho...
*Also heard 0-60 on 99-00 Si is 7.0secs

hey neo
if both are stock the
2k2 si/SiR will win / also depends on the driver!!
but yea the new SiR engines have more torque over the older ones and its a 2.0 liter dang very nice and its teasing me hehehehe
but u gotta wait on performance parts that are gonna come out for it
but if u talk about done up ones the 99-00 si/SiR will win out for sure alot more support!!
edit: almost forgot
weight has to do little cuz we are talking about street racing its all about torque if ur talking about hwy racing its different
dude u guyz can have like 300HP and 50torque and ur not moving any where
so its all about torque!!!

bump
no ones debated the point nitehawk brought up...yea it may have more torque but it still takes the 2k2 7.5 to 60 yet the 99-00 makes it in 7.0 and supposedly weighs less (still no specs) which would mean the 2k2 is SLOWER by .5 seconds so I dont think torque will matter...

I'm sorry, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 2k2 Si actually about 300 lbs. Heavier than the previous model Si's? I could be wrong, but in my opinion...I think that neither one would win by a mile. Think if anyone takes anyone, it wont be by much. I think you guys need to get some REAL specs before you Assume anythin.
Well here's a question to which someone might already know the answer. Anyone with an Si (Neo?) raced a base or premium RSX, because the base is lighter than the 2k2 Si and it has more torque. So if the 99/00Si(R) can beat a base RSX it can definatly beat a 2k2 Si(R). So who wins that race?
2002 SI vs 1999-2000 SI:
Too close to call. The driver will determine the winner.
Things more or less being equal, the torquier of the two may leave a little
faster off the line, and the lighter one may start catching up a bit.
I don't know at what point, if at all, the 2000 would pass the 2002....
Despite the weight difference, remember:
There's no replacement for displacement....

forgot the name of the magazine but it tested 5 compacts, protege mp3, sentra spev v, vw 1.8t, 2k2 civic si, and one more i cant remember what it was, but the 0-60 on this new 160 hp was 8.1 seconds. Pretty da8mn sh11ty if you ask me. maybe the new engine needs to be broke on but at most thats gonna save a few tenths, not a whole second to beat the 00 si. Stock for stock the new si is gonna get spanked like hell. I'll check the name of the mag out later. Peace. the 00 si, is a pretty light car, lighter than than the del sol vtec's.

Finally got the specs basic ones anyways
Torque is up to 130 because of the increase in displacement. (over 99-00 111)
Redline is down to 6800rpms. (99-00 has 8000rpms)
Weight is also up 2722lbs (Still dont know the 99-00's)
final drive ratio is 4.477 (99-00 Si is 4.440)
Its looking like they just made the econo box a little bit more sportier....def gonna take out those EX's but the older Si's...definatly not until some good aftermarket comes out.

driver's race.
but, IMO, 99-00 Si is faster from a dead stop, to quarter mile. however, from a roll, the 02 Si maybe faster due to the better amount of torque available to it through the power band, and VTC helps smooth out the power along the power curve, so power transition is better than previous DOHC VTEC (ie: instead of getting that jolt at 5,000 rpm when u hit VTEC land... you'll arrive in VTEC land with a more civilized manner - good or bad? up to you.)
this is may be my opinion, but I think its right. heh.
I'll look up the exact specs if you guys want, but I've been doing that too much, so just take my word for it.
from my memory, I would say anywhere about 200-300 lbs heavier. 99-00 runs in at 2,500 lb while the 02 Si hits around 2,800 lbs.
as for the RSX deal, same thing. driver's race. But I think base RSX is faster than 02 Si... since its lighter and has more torque. BUT, it has different gearing ratio than the 02 Si, so I dont know how that'll affect it.
in either case, all these cars are pretty close to each other?
but (here's the last but) then again, I've heard of people doing some crazy numbers with those 99-00 Sis... launching at 5,000 rpm+ and hitting the high 14s and low 15s. geez. this is with stock car too. but I duno how creditable the sources are.. I just know I heard of that from different people on differen boards.

nope
NEO go get the new honda tuning winter 2002
there is no difference in time from the older and new si/sir in 0-60 BUT after that the new si/sir will always have power there. and it maxes out at 132mph!
just read the mag if u can get ur hands on it and it should tell u wat ur chances are.
personally the extra doesnt mean much, if u cant put the power to the tires then its useless
if ur tires arent sticky and ur rims are super heavy forget it
take everything to account!
well thats all
im reading the mag now and im drooling over the SiR!!!!!!
need vtec-i!!!
edit: its supposed to go against the celica gt-s, vw gti and so on......
