Sway Bar Needed?
Sway Bar Needed?
Honda Civic 2001 EX 4 Door.
- Is way front sway bar really needed?
- Should the sway bar be evenly spaced from the control arms on both sides?
- Should i just go for OEM if i have to replace it?
I had a terrible thumping noise after replacing my control arm, struts and the engine mounts.
After much troubleshooting, i disconnected the sway bar from the control arms and the noise seemed to go away. I have it just resting on the control arm for now since it started raining.

Re: Sway Bar Needed?
it sound like the sway bar is hitting on the control arm. the front sway is meant to keep the car understeer... some autocrosser like it off. so depend on you. I would continue to look for what is hitting the sway because they're not suppose to hit.

Re: Sway Bar Needed?
It sounds like you didn't get the endlinks tight enough or they came loose when/after you put the new control arms. I have the front bar off on my car right the moment but thats for autocross. It won't really cause any problems if you have the front bar off you will probably notice that your car will turns in a little faster. But either have the bar completely on or completely off otherwise you might run into the bar snagging on something and potentially damaging some of your suspension.
