Unhappy Please help, car won't start after starter motor was replaced

The starter motor burned up the other day while trying to crank the motor and even after i replaced it with a new one it doesn't go unless i hotwire directly from the battery to the ignition terminal. I've checked all fuses under the driverside dash and passengerside underhood, and i can't find anything blown. I don't know what to do, it was just working the other day!!!

Try swapping the relays around. You might have burnt one up.

ya if the starter works with direct connection, somethings wrong with the wire system leading to the ignition.

Have you checked your ignition switch? Use a test light to see if you have signal to the starter from the ignition switch.

Would the ignition switch go out if the starter motor went out? Also, i'm not sure with relays have to do with the starting circuit.

Re: Please help, car won't start after starter motor was replaced

The ignition switch could go out, the wires in the switch are small, you could also have carbon build up on the contacts. The carbon would be the result of excessive current. It is unlikely but possible.
With regards to the relays. When you turn the key the starter wire does not run from the key to the starter. It runs to a relay. This goes back to the wires in the switch being too small for the current.
