Can't help you with gutting, other than its illegal and also costly if you ever need to get the car emissions tested again (I had the piece with the cat quoted at $500). Secondly, I just emailed testpipes.com about a testpipe (replaces cat with staright pipe) for our car, they run around $50 and can be put on and taken off at will. Peace.

gutting the cat pretty much involves removing the cat and removing the honeycomb/mesh material in the cat....you can do that by drilling holes through that material and taking a screwdriver or a blunt end of a broom stick handle and just hollow it out,,,,make sense??? its not hard to do, just time consuming,,,,MAKE sure if u do this to take ur time and get all the stuff out, if you dont it'll rattle in your exhaust system

Yo,

Remember your O2 sensors. If your check engine light comes on, your engine will run horrible. Unless you know enough about electronics to solve the problem.

peace

ok now im confused....the hx,lx,dx have 2 cats right?one in the engine bay and under the car. i already gut the one under the car and i lost a little more low-end but i like the way it sounds.it has a nice, loud hollow sound to it.should i do the other cat in the engine bay now??? oh and the check engine light came on!!!!!dammit!!!but its ok. i keep resetting the ecu and stuff and my friend works at level 10 performance and is gonna reprogram my ecu w/ a mugen program. maybe he can do something w/my o2 sensors too so they dont come on anymore or something..heh.well ill try gutting the other one now.if worst comes to worst, ill buy headers and a high flow cat.
