Engine question...

Ok im not to smart when it comes to engine swapping...but im always hearing people talk about, oh they have a B16 head, with an H22 bottom head on there engine etc.... I understand what the point is...but how come we cant do it to our cars? Maybe with a better "D" series engine...or the "K" series engine...just to SWAP bottom heads. Dear God, yes you can tell your a n00b, but we all were. First off, no such thing as a B16 head on an H series engine. B=B, etc. We can't do it to our cars because the D series is basically only good for industrial slag, no real power unless you dump hard cash into the bottom end (sleeving, blocking, whatever) Right now, we have the best D series it being 1.7 whooped dee doo! K is good, just haven't seen anyone do it yet, but there is a member named Htown willing to give it a shot. No such thing as a bottom head. Bottom end and The Head, yes. Go to www.howstuffworks.com to get a good general idea. We can't swap to B, H, or hell even other D (y would you?) series engines because we have lost approx. a foot lengthwise in our engine bay. Just do searches, read, and visit your local shops that do swaps and ask questions, sit back and watch, or hell hand them tools if they will let you. Knowledge is key.

Htown has a whole engine tho, not just a top or bottom end. But hes generally right you can only swap to your same letter, you couldnt use a DOHC head on something thats SOHC etc..

hate to say it but I'm extremely disappointed in Honda and what it did, or i should say didn't do, for our civics, this is what happens when your car dies at the first dealership you visit and they offer $1000 for a jetta that won't move.

Honda Civics are a sporty economy car not a an economical sports car. Bolt on mods (and NOS) can give you 40%+HP(not bad at all!). Any more than that and you're into a complete transmission/suspension/brakes/chassis upgrade. You can't(shouldn't) just bolt in a 200HP engine into a car designed for 127hp! If you have to completley transform your car, you either enjoy doing it or you probably should have bought something else.
