k20 swap 1/4 times
i went to the track last night and i ran a 16 with my k20 swap in my 01. Now i believe it was so slow because of my 18" rims. Is this true? i also have full interior with a big *** subwoofer box in the trunk. what do u guys think. I got roasted twice last night once by a 14 sec cobra and again by a 12 sec EVO MR

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
pretty much its just a stock swap...i have no extra parts on it yet.. i have a cold air but not on yet. im 235 lbs and i know my subs way atleast 70 or 80 lbs...like off the line i was so slow but after words i was pulling alot harder..when i raced the cobra he killed me off the line but through the thousand he beat my by almost a sec. well i think its the rims..maybe a lil of my driving...
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
Yes that is very, very slow my first and only time at the track it was hot as hell, my 60' times were horrible (best was 2.45) and I still ran 14.1. I would say that something is wrong with your car. What were your trap speeds??
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
the slowest u should hit would be 15s. even with a bad driver 15s would be possible. and on 18s ud have more traction. so something could be wrong with the motor. maybe timing is off.

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
yea it kinda felt like i was boggin down also off the line cause it was slow. My car has the k pro but i didnt have the funds to get it tuned yet so i dont know if that might have an effect cause im sure fuel pressure or timing can be a huge issue. So next week im gonna take my seat out and my system and see if i approve. Is it true every 100 lbs is a 1/10 of a sec.

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
Shoot, you know theres something wrong with your car if I got an lx w/ i/h/e on my em2, and I could beat your k20 swapped vic... *shakes head* Just got to the tuner- how can you drop all that money on the swap and then not put the money down for a tune? Go to the tuner, if there is something wrong, he'll probably find it in the process.

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
ok guys so yea i came to the conclusion i need the tune asap to see what my numbers are..I appreciate all ur guys help on answering my question. Im hopin i would of been around the 14.5 sec. but that 1st race diappointed me so bad when it said 16 sec. but thanks and i will keep u posted 7th generationers.
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
wow thats slow, i ran a mid 14 with my k20z1 swap in my FOUR door 01 civic, withOUT k-pro! street tires, no lsd, not stripped, all i had was intake,TOda race headers, and exhaust, i was faster then a g35skyline, and i forgot what else but yea, 16's? ur making the k-swaps look bad
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
ok intake, toda race and exhaust makes a big difference buddy. especially for a z1. in fact i think its rather on the ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh side that u hit mid 14s. but hey nt.
anyways dont worry he'll be fine once hes tuned. good luck and post up numbers man and go back to the track again

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
Its possible you just arent launching properly. Are you just learning how to drive standard?
I know I'd run a shitty time on the QTR mile as well but I am just learning how to drive stick

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
yea i dont think it was the track cause they had some fast *** cars runnig what they thought they should be running...
yes this is also my 1st stick car and my reaction time was like 9/10 of a sec i know thats bad but it felt like my car didnt wanna move off the line...so take some of that off the 1/4 and i would be running like 15.6's.. thats still bad but i will imporve on those and get rid of those big *** 18's also.

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
I don't think your reaction time is included in your 1/4 mile time. The timer does not start until you cross the line. What were your 60' times those are what you should look at.
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
i think u should just get tuned right away. no need to see what u can hit especially if ur hitting low. imo just get it to the shop asap. base run, then tuned run, and more tuning runs.
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
hahaha a 16 my current set up would beat u haha....on a real side get a good header, get a 2.5 or 3inch exhaust for the k to breathe, tune a/f in kpro, use the cai kpro map if you are still unable to get a tune quickly and so forth... all of that and you should run mid-hi-13's. you need good tires to, lower the 60ft times
Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
I ran a 16.4 with my 02 ex civic manual with intake header exhaust 35 pounds per wheel 18s and a stereo. It just might be that you aren't launching like other people are saying, what do you drop the rpms at?

Re: k20 swap 1/4 times
So what was your trap speed? That will be a good indicator if there was anything wrong. You should be trapping in the 90's My opinion is you just don't know how to launch yet. A bad launch greatly effects your et especially if you bog. Slow shifts add more time, not shifting at redline....it all adds up. Keep working at it.

LOL I completely bogged off of the line, I got beat by a 5.0 that ran a 15.0xx.
