Short Throw Shifter Recommendations

So I know this has been covered a lot but I am looking for good solid opinions of products used by *YOU*. All the other posts seem to recommend products people have not used themselves. 1999 Civic LX

Please do not tell me something is good because it looks cool, it is new or your friend has it and it is awesome.

I want opinions for people who are actually using the products for reasons similar to my reasons: What I am looking for personally is a more precision feel and much shorter travel. If it is not too much of a burden it would be great for you to give me pros and cons. Thank you.

The two I am looking at are:

https://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...51776_-1_54632 I am partial to this one.

http://www.autodynamic.com/detail.as...ID=SS-REV-6002

Any other suggestions from people actually using the products?

My car is stock in all ways, 1999 Civic LX. I am looking to increase the driving pleasure of it. I want quick acceleration and good handling. I do not care about top speeds. I would also like to keep fuel economy at approx. same level.

Suggestions? (no engine swaps or turbos are in my future)

Your choice of shifter isnt going to affect handeling or top seepd at all, and only your acceleration marginally (the partial seconds you shave off by having more precise shifts).

But I havent bought one yet, but am in the market... The revo ss is the shifter most of the members on this site have, and no1 ever says anything bad about it. Go figure. Goodluck

Thank you.

I am aware that the shifter is not going to affect the handling or really any thing else. For the shifter, I am looking for the precision feeling of an aftermarket piece, as well as, I feel that the travel on the stock is too long.

If you have some recommendations for a stock LX to increase acceleration that would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at cold air intake for it. I am looking for little bits I can add on here and there.

Anyway any simple suggestions you might have would be fantastic. Thank you.

Re: Short Throw Shifter Recommendations

Did you say you have a 99 civic LX?
Don't 6th gen civics have a completely different shifting mechanism?

You guys would know better then me about the shifting mechanisms. As far as I can tell the SS will not work. I can only find them or 01-> nothing before then.

Do you have any recommendations for my 99?

Re: Short Throw Shifter Recommendations

I do not have a 99 civic but a 2001 ex. I have the revo ss, installed today actually. Also found the aluminum bushings the replace the stock rubber ones that hold the shifter assembly to the floor. Excellent short shifter IMO. The aluminum bushings might be useless but the whole shifting action is tight and solid now.

Revo SS came from autodynamic.com
bushings from ebay i think. Or a place called corsport or something like that.

I don't have any recommendations for your '99 LX, other than that a shifter for an '01 and up won't work. The 7th gens (and up) are cable shifters, and most of the 00 (or is it 99, can't remember) and below use a shifter linkage (linkage rods vice cables).

The only thing I can say is don't get an Ebay cheapee as they have been known to snap. Stick with a reputable brand (B&M is one off the top of my head) that has a warranty and uses quality parts in their construction. Head over to d-series.org (sorry for the plug) as they have a lot more information on the 6th gen and below civics. You will be able to find a passel of folks there with personal experience on short shifters for your 99 LX.

Re: Short Throw Shifter Recommendations

So I put in the Edelbrock shifter yesterday and what a difference. It is so much shorter I was a little worried that it might be a little too much. So far I like it. It has a precision feel that the old one did not have. The movement is quick and precise. I would recommend it.
