Re: Smog Check ;)
i suggest you ask ppl to PM you.
because no one is stupid enough to post it up here....the shop would totally be vulnerable to the law officials

Re: Smog Check ;)
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just got a smog check requirement with my registration and was wondering if anyone could PM me of any shop they use that could help.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Smog Check ;)
well, i'm not so much concerned about the exhaust. My CEL intermittenly comes on, and I believe it's somehow due to my remote start.
The codes were for cylinder(s) misfiring, but after troubleshooting it myself and bringing it to the Dealership (twice), no problems could be found.
Since my gas mileage remains 31mpg and the car runs fine, and because each trip to the Dealership cost $175+, I've simply learned to ignore it. However, I heard if my CEL comes on, the shop may fail me solely on the visual.
So let me know people, send a PM my way.

I'd also suggest removing your remote start to aid in troubleshooting.
...and I'm not sure how a cylinder misfire code could pop up from a remote start... i'm thinking injector, plug, timing, etc...
Re: Smog Check ;)
yeah, i'm not sure either, but that's all I can think of. I replaced my spark plugs already and switched fuel injector positions (to see if the cylinder misfiring codes would change in correlation with the switching of "good" injector(s) with the potentially bad injector(s), but that wasn't the case).
I guess I can just reset the CEL and go in, and switch back to the OEM exhaust, although I've heard the 5zigen Fireball axelback will pass SMOG.
It's not the so much the work that annoys me, as it is the fact that all this seems pointless. Especially when I see cars spitting out blue smoke when they accelerate and I know my car is fine.
Thanks for the input, and I'll gladly take any suggestions from people of places to go =)
