I'm gonna tint them and put a clear coat over it so its shiny. what kind of clear coat do i use? and this may sound dumb but i have seen pictures on this forum of tinted lights but the rear light its not tinted how do i do that? thanks guys always a great help OH and is there a type of percentage of tint I need?

Re: tinting tails......

what does tinting your tails have anything to do with insurance?

right now i have a spray on tint which ive had for 2 years and it looks pretty good. I dont have a clear coat on it so it looks dull, but still looks good.

Re: tinting tails......

I just tinted the tails on my brother's Ram today...I didn't clear coat them and they seem shiney enough for me...

As for the reverse light, you just have to tape it off...and percentage, just buy the spray and go till it looks good. Don't waste your time with film tint!

Ironically he got pulled over today too! But it was for window tint, not tail tint. Cop didn't say anything about the tails!

Re: tinting tails......

just tape off the reverse light, and id recomend using a coat of clear on there, when i tinted my tails back in the day i didnt use a clear on it the 1st time and the 1st cold night we had it chipped. so the 2nd time i used clear and never had a problem up until i sold them

If you get in a rear collision accident, your insurance can F&$% you over saying "lights were obstucted" w/ the tint

Re: tinting tails......

Not sure where Gear is getting at, but you can get screwed if the brake lights are tinted.. as in if you get rear ended, the insurance company can say "the brake lights arent in full view".. the reverse lights shouldn't matter

Re: tinting tails......

well i light tint and they will still be bright enough. just dont turn it black cause they will be hard to see and people will rearend you. get a compass for the circle, they even have some with a cutting tool you can use to cut a nice tape circle the size of stock.
