well yes i drive a 97dx auto .. thats the only thing i dont like about the car i have a d16y7 stock engine and i was wondering if i put a 6th gen tranny in my car would it *** up my engine or any differences since my tranny is auto?

Yes you can install a d-series manual tranny and unleash lost HP without doing a single other mod to your car. It will benefit your engine because it will not work as hard. However, there are many parts that you need to get your hands on besides the tranny. This includes the slave cylinder, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, flywheel cover, related bolts, clutch master cylinder, clutch line, shift linkage, shifter, shift boot, and maybe even the gauge cluster.

If you really want to go to manual tranny, it's easier to sell the car with the automatic and buy one with a manual. Auto cars are more expensive than manual so chances are you'll MAKE MONEY doing this!
