engine build-up
engine build-up
i have an 04 civic dx with the non-vtec engine. i am planning on doing the ex head swap and turbo charging it, but not for a while. by the end i want to have about 250+ whp. i am planning on doing a bunch of work to the head and valves before i install it. i dont know whether to get the vafc2 or the ex ecu and wiring harness or maybe an emanage system or something, but i have no idea. but before i put on the turbo and strengthen the internals, which will be in like a year, i want to just get some bolt-ons, like intake mani, cold air intake, spark plugs/wires cat back exhaust and high flow cat, some cam gears and maybe some new cams. but i have no idea on what types or brands of parts are better than others, or which ones to get and which ones not to get. i just want to set a good foundation, like maybe 150 whp so when i put on the turbo kit and new pistons and connecting rods, i can hope to get out about 250 whp. do you guys think this is possible, what brands/parts should i get?
all the work that you plan to do to your car may not be worth it. ive read that a turbo is not the greatest thing to put in your car. you may reach the 200 hp, but 250 whp is too much to ask from a d series engine. it sounds like your already gonna spend lots of money. if i were you i would get a engine swap. a k20 will start you off at 200 hp stock, bolt ons work well with the k20. start at 200 and work your way up. and with a swap the the 250 whp can be reached.

Uhm 250 is possible with a d series as long as you know what your doing. If you are doin internals then you will be fine to reach 250 as long as you have a good fuel system and engine management.

K20's can run for about 2-3k from what i've seen... and yeah they do pack a 200 hp stock so i'm guessing you could still throw in your exhaust plugs/wire, etc. and get close to that 250 whp... good tuning maintenance and a fuel system will also help you get there, like AThompson18 said...

not trying to be an *** or anything, but in my opinion you dont sound like you could do all this work your self. first, the d17 has no plug wires. second, the d17 only has 1 cam and 1 cam gear. i know its a cliche thing to say, but if you wouldve searched you wouldve found hundreds of threads on this. 250 is possible on a d17. dezod got 396 out of one. please search and read before you get on here lookin like an ***.
