Leaking Rear Shocks

Guys N Gals,

I have been hearing alot lately about leaking rear shocks on the civic. I also belong to the forum on insideline.com and many people are having the dealerships replace leading shocks.

Most people either have some noise in the rear or are finding out when they have their car services etc.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up to keep an eye on this. Most people are stating oily residue on the outsides of the shocks, etc.

You bring up a good point: is the added benefit of lead shocks worth the maintenance if they cause a problem? What do factory civics shocks lack that the replacements gain? is this a problem on the mechanic side?

The topic is "LEAKING SHOCKS" not lead shocks. I never heard of lead shocks, do they really exist??

I meant lead as in front or more load bearing. Yes I can see where the actual shocks made of lead might be perhaps a drawback in both performance and weight.
