Speaker Harness, is it necessary??

Hi All,

I'm debating whether I should cut the factory speaker connector and crimp onto the aftermarket speaker wire for speaker connection, or, get one of these harness and not worry about cutting any factory stuffs? Any suggestions?
I'm wondering do they fit with the factory speaker connector of a 05 Civic sedan?

Thanks

I.F.

If you are running them off the head unit, it would make it easier on you. If you are running them off an amp, you don't need them.

The shop were I had it installed just spliced it since I'm running from the HU. They did a good job on it tho with heat shrink and gold connectors.

get them def do when i did my install on my friends car i did that spliced and then 2 weeks later the damn thing wasnt working it took me an hour to figure out it was just being grounded and not allowing my speakers to work. if u do it wrap that thing like crazy so u wont have to take off the door panels....so just use the speaker harness

All good info. By-pass them with new speaker wire if running from an amp. Drop the few bucks on the harness if running off your HU - keeps it simple to put back to stock.

Yes, that's one point I was telling my self if I ever have to put the stock speaker back. I guess I also don't have to worry about getting the polarity wrong by getting these harness.

Thanks for all the good info guys! The harness is already ordered.

If any of you ever want to order these for your own or a friend's car they are from crutchfield for about $12.99+6.99shipping. And crutchfield will include a mastersheet free that shows very clear instructions on how to remove your door panels and stock head unit out. I've used it before and found it very useful. Thought these may be helpful info to first time DIYer, as the mastersheet will save you tons of research time and doubts on how to take your door and dash apart properly.
