guitar in the car
ok i saw it done on pimp my ride or some **** forever a go and now the vdub has come out with it, i want it in my car. i cant fit my line 6 stack in my car, so ill just play through my system. anyone know how? ill send you a truck load of 1/4" jacks if you think you can figure it out. it slipped my mind back when i first saw it done, now i need to know how its done. i want it in mids and everything. im thinking tapping into the main harness behind the HU would be the thing to do, but who knows.

well if u just want the guitar to go straight to the system i saw this thing im getting for my ipod
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehon98aux.html
Im guesing it would work to hook up this too the back of the head unit, with an audio splitter and a 1/4" adapter. plus u could just add any fx chain u got to get a better sound ie. distortion, phaser....
i dont see y hat wouldnt work!
but im sure gona try it when i put mine in

well if u dont have a cd changer or a tape deck then there is that input on the head unit. i think its the 6 cd chaner that has an aux input. if u have that then u could just use a regular guiyar cable and a 1/8" adapter.

this site has some guy who put that interface in his stock unit to hook up an ipod. it all seems logical!

your issue with this situation is line level.
pretty much any rca output device you use will have a preout voltage of at least 1 volt, if not higher.
your issue here is your guitar, it probably puts out a lot less, and it will be very succeptible to noise.
what you need, is a preamp to be mounted in the car, to go from the guitar, into the auxiliary adapter piece, so as to boost your output level, and give you the option to fine tune it.
unless, you have a guitar with active pickups (if you don't know, does your guitar require you to put a 9v battery in it?) the active pickups would output a much higher output voltage.
you could go cheap like so:

or they get much much more expensive, up to the 4000-5000 range

no problem
that wuld be badass...have the link?
And with wat LudlamTheory was saying...ya ur prolly gona turn up the vol on ur HU and get a lot of background noise. but ya if u wana put in a preamp pedal Id recomend DOD Preamp , good and cheap. Theres no real reason to spend over 200 bucks for a preamp thats only gona be used in ur car...especially if the whole system is stock! but its ur money!
