4k RPM Rev limiter, and 500 RPM drops for split second

as the title says, the car runs like it has a rev limiter at 4k RPM, but its not something i can reproduce on command so i dont dare bring it to a mechanic. there is no pattern of the malfunction according to weather or engine temp or anything else i can think of. im throwing an engine code of P0335 - 'Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction', and also P0420, but that one was around prior to this problem.

this is becoming a MAJOR pain in my ***, any help would be more then welcome

edit: i have a no-name short ram intake installed, and i put it in about 2 weeks before this problem came up - at the same time i changed my primary 02 sensor to solve some misfire problems i was getting. that problem seemed to have been solved and this one replaced it.

Sounds like your rpms are being limited due to that sensor error, but you knew that. I'd call/go to honda and tell them about that code. With a detailed description of the problem, and those error codes, they may be able to figure it out even without reproducing the problem. If you're not ready to go to the shop yet, take a look in/around/under that car. Look for problems with the wiring, ie. cuts and stuff in the insulation, loose connections. Check the ecu and see if it looks like it could be getting wet, etc. Other than that, I'd say take it in and see if they can do anything for you.

Car is in safe mode. The CPS malfunction is semi-common in 01s. Gotta change the sensor. If the car doesnt know what cylinder is where, it goes nuts to save the motor. It cant control the ignition timing if it cant find the crank.
