AEM bypass without cutting
AEM bypass without cutting
I am new at this but I did check the forms before first. I just installed my AEM CAI, and now want to install the bypass value. I had a little trouble with the CAI, I couldn't have done it without the DIY, and it took me 2.5 hours, but now my car is loud and proud. I don't trust myself to cut the pipe so I called the a local shop, they want $70 just for the bypass value because they say they have to take out and put back in my CAI. If I bring in just the CAI it's $40, and I would not have a much needed car for the day because there's no way in hell I think I could put the stock intake back.
Question is, they told me to install the bypass in place of the rubber seperator between the two pipes. Someone on the tec forms said it fits that way, but will it be effective?? I mean the pipes would be connected all the way together in the middle, so how would it work if water was sucked up?

It works at the junction of the two tubes. We tested it using an aquarium of water over the intake filter, and it worked just fine. Save yourself time, money and frustration, and just put it at the junction.
install it were it's supposed to go, where the two pipes join.......the breather is not there to stop you from sucking up water, it's there incase your filter clogs from water submersion, then it will no longer be able to suck air into your engine and the air would be sucked through the valve.....
