ATTN: AEM EMS users, please read!

For those who know, I've been troubleshooting an issue with my car for the past year.

I think I've finally seen a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. I've been getting timing errors counting up on my standalone which AEM told me was not normal and that either the cam or crank pickup was losing sync from the sensor somehow. So after tons of time, money and alot of work and sweat, I got in touch with a friend with a very similar setup as mine on the same standalone. Lo and behold, his car gets timing errors also. But his car runs perfectly fine with no problems.

So, I don't know. I have now sent my wideband controller in for repair, once I get it back in, I can hopefully pinpoint whether I actually have a problem or not. Time will tell.

I contacted AEM about it today and they said "they will look into it". I will keep this thread updated as it hasn't been determined whether this is actually normal or not....

Also, anyone running the aem on a k series, can you chec, your system and see if it continues counting timing errors as well? I'm wondering if its something with the d17 or the 1030/1070....

It was stuck going from 14.6-14.8 and wouldn't go further up or down. Hopefully after they fix it, it'll fix whatever defect was there and last me....

I am also using PLX M300 wideband. How can you tell if you have timing error?
My car seems run fine and wideband seems working fine as well.

Hook your laptop up to it and pull up the troubleshooting parameters. It will give a list with engine speed, engine load, o2 #1 voltage, stat sync, stat sync errors (which should go back and forth from 0-1), timing errors, cam-crank and cam syn on/off....

Your car probably is perfectly fine. According to AEM, this is "not normal." However, I'm not the only d17 experiencing this so it appears to me that although it may not be normal, it doesn't seem to affect performance. If you've had it for awhile and the car is fine, I wouldn't worry about it, I'm still waiting to hear back from AEM about it....

Subscribed. I'm interested in knowing more about this since I want to use the EMS with the setup I'm getting.

I also get timing errors going from 0-1-0-1-0-1 etc. The problem is that AEM says that this is normal. So I didn't pay much attention to it because my car works perfectly fine...

Well I hope that AEM finds a solution to this prob. As far as the PLX M300 prob goes i am trying a new sensor and see if that works. But ye Andy keep us up to date on this issue

Well we dont know its even a problem. In ten minutes of engine run time I counted 6 errors at idle. My car has spent tons of time on the dyno and everything appears to be just fine.

Well, today I finally got my wideband back. I added fuel across the board on the #4 cylinder and that seemed to clean it up.....

Kezay, you're probably looking at sync errors going from 0-1-0-1. Your timing errors will give a minimum of one while cranking and continue counting up while you idle or drive around.
