Get a male replacement plug end for an extention cord from the hardware store and temporarily wire the ballast to that so it can be plugged into the wall.

NO NO

do not do that...http://www.cluefree.com/technical/pc...connectors.htm

Peripheral DC Power is what you are looking for...

Use the link to connect 12V and GND pin to supply to your ballast...Just unplug unused pins by carefully pulling out...for safety...use the pic

Wall outlets are 120V AC not DC...

also use some resistor to limit the current to the ballast....this is a must...12V/resistor = current you want..

this number depends on the ballast....use what ever number is on the spec sheet...

Yellow and BLK are the wires that you want to use..

I attached a spec sheet for a Power Supply Unit from Antec...

U have one that should specify the rating like this...

it says the min is .4A to max of 19A..for +12V supply

Its hard to tell because I dont know what PSU you have...

What is the rating on the ballast...is there a minimum current that it needs?
