Swaping D16y8 into 7th gen?
I got my old 97 ex motor out back, was wondering if it was possible to swap a 6th gen motor into my 7th gen. It shouldnt matter but it is a 97ex D16y8, into a 04ex 4dr.

PM Black99VTEC, He was the first member to "do this", well at least he showed a lot of pictures and talked a lot of ****.
Is it possible? Yes. The bigger question is...Why? Why swap in an older motor that's going to require tons of custom crap to go in. Just put that money towards a K20A3 or something.

The why is easy... there's a billion parts for them, and its built a bit more stout than the D17. The bigger matter is mounting it, converting the car for a rod-link transmission and then raising the issue of the legality of it, because you can't replace an engine with one that is older than the car is... legally.
For the amount of time, money and effort it would take, and the "gain" it would afford you, drop in a K.

Unless government goes **** with you, there is no need to notify them that engine is different than what it initialy was.
And I wouldnt drop d16 into 7th gen - too much to pay and too little to gain.
As it's said already, k20/k24 whould be a better way.

Dude...... why does everyone worry about what the government will do..... There are tons and tons of things you can do you dont need 2 tell anyone...... just swap the motor do what you gotta do..... pay one of your boys like i did with my 91 accord H22 swap to do the inspection and your straight..... believe me it helps being in the "know"..... its the easiest way.... and why ask here if you wanna do something just do it.... if you know what your doin why does it matter what anyone else thinks....... people told me you cant swap a H series head onto a F Series block I say WHY THE HELL NOT!!! then i just bolted it on...... H23 on a F22 Block.... non V - Tech Sold it..... Last i heard it ran great....... ok thats enough of me l8r

That kinda sounds like a politician's campaign promise
"I will put a chicken in every pot...and a boy in every inspection center"
