Ex engine swap help. Please help

Hello, quick question for you guys. I have a 2001 honda civic dx. I found a 2002 honda civic ex vtec engine for less than 300 bucks. I would like to swap it since im going to have to replace my engine anyways. My question to you guys is, will the ex engine run off of the lx ecm with a vtec controler? Will the engine harness from my dx work with the ex engine under the hood?
Will the dx/lx tranmission mate to the ex block?
Bascially im going to pull my engine and then swap in an ex. will it work? I know people are performing head swaps from lx to ex.
Will all the electrical harness in the car now ( dx model) work with a ex ecm to control vtec?
Please help.
Jeff

I found a good link, but I don't have 15 post so I can't post the link.

But just do a search for -vtec head swap- and you will find what you are looking for.

Later

Im reading some thread and they still dont give me a clear answer
How are youguys hooking up the vtec to work with the ex ecm with the lx dx engine wireharness? Did you guys have to run a wire to the vtec solenoid( and if so from where to where) . Im not wanting to run the vtec controller. I want to run a stock ex ecm with the stock ex engine in my dx car.
And yes i know k20 is the way to go , but some of us dont have the funds to do the swap when your engine just crapped out.
=)
please help me out

????????????????????

If you are using a LX/DX ecu you will need the VAFC2 (you run a wire from there to the solenoid) to engage VTEC. If you are using a EX ecu, you will not need the VAFC2 because that ecu engages VTEC. You are going from LX/DX over to EX ecu then you WILL have to get the ecu reflashed to use your keys with it.

I suggest running the EX ecu with the EX engine, you will have proper fuel mixtures and VTEC engagment will be where it needs to be. Reflashing the ecu might cost $100? but you will have to find a way to get the car over there (ie towing, pulling, whatever). Hope that helps.

EDIT: The EX wireharness must be different from the LX/DX one, you may have to purchase a EX wire harness if you dont have one already.

Not true. I've done this swap....

There are a few things that you will need. You have to do some manual wiring for the o2 sensors. On a dx/lx, the primary sensor itself uses a connector that's either male or female, can't remember but the ex primary is actually opposite. So, you'll have to swap the wires. Keep in mind this is only if you run a vtec ecu.

Also, you have no wiring for vtec solenoid or the EGR valve.

I wasn't debating that. I was talking about the proper air fuel mixtures. With a narrowband o2 sensor, you aren't going to get max power out of the engine, you're going to get max fuel economy, that's why there are so many sensors and things for the emissions. With your o2 sensors and everything hooked up, I bet you're a/f's are going to be pretty much the same as with an ex ecu....
