NEED HELP Alpine Type R wiring

OK so im still learning new things about car stereos..Im going to need a lil bit of help understandin the best way i should hook my amp up to subs..ok so my next subs that i am goin for will prob be the Alpine Type R 12"...now what im wondering is should i get the SWR-1222D 2ohm or the SWR-1242D 4 ohm subs..?and also what are you guys takes on these subs?ive heard a lot of good things..id rather get two but ive also heard that 1 of these things will bump really good…i want some clean hardd bass...so that’s something I am considering….any suggestions will be great…on hand right now i have a Fosgate X500.2 amp that im pushing my current subs with and i also have a cheap Legacy LA670 amp laying around...below I will put all of the specs for both of the amps…I kno these subs will need a good amount of clean power to get them bumpin..I don’t have money to just blow out my *** so one question I need to get out the way is would I be able to run these Alpine subs with the amps that I currently have? Ive been installing all of my stereos in my past cars but stupidly ive never really paid any attention to the OHMs part of subs and amps…luckily none of my equiptment has ever been fried or blown…so im just now learning the concept of matching up the OHMs and ect ect…so I still need a little help on the wiring just to be on the safe side…diagrams of this wiring would be really helpful or explanations in Easily understood terms lol, just so I don’t get off track...so heres the specs for my amps
X500.2 FOSGATE AMP (specs on the amp)
-125x2 RMS @ 4ohms
-250x2 RMS @ 2ohms
X500.2 Fosgate amp(specs I found online)
-500watts @ 2ohms bridged
125 watts RMS x 2 @ 4ohms
250 watts RMS x 2 @ 2ohms
500 watts RMS x 1 @ 4ohms

LEGACY LA670
-4 channel
-4x250watts
-2x500watts bridged
-1000watts total
2ohm stereo stable bridgeable into 4ohms
k guys thanks for any help you could give me
Chris-

this should help a lot actually... it does the work for you... all you have to do is enter how many subs, then their ohm rating, then follow the diagrams. personally, i love my alprine type r... i have just 1 12" swr-1221d (the model before this current one rated at 300rms - 1000peak that had the bubble looking surround, not the accordian surround) bridged to a rockford fosgate 401s and it thumps hard, you'd think there were at least 2 subs. i know this is a civic site, but here's my other ride with the sub in it... www .cardomain.com/ride/667841. i would argue that the alpine type r is the best sub for it's price range (i bought mine new on ebay for like $100+shipping).
my conclusion... i reccomend one or two alpine type r subs and power it with the fosgate amp... then run the legacy amp for mids and highs.

yea the type R seems like a pretty descent sub...i want two of them but i think i might be starting to lean towards just one of them after hearing every body say 1 gets the job done..i jus want alot of bass...good bass..just alot of it..these new type Rs i see run at 500wattRMS and 1500watts PK...u say u recommend one or two of them running off my X500.2 Fosgate amp...im still new at this but im jus wonderin does this amp even have the power to push one of these subs let alone two of them?

from the specs you posted on your fosgate amp, you can push 500rms if you bridge the amp in a 2ohm load. on the fosgate wiring wizard site i sent you in my last post, if you enter "1 woofer" and "dual voice coil - 4 ohms x 2" you see that the one sub can be wired to a 2ohm load and meet the perfect specifications for the sub and amp... i say, download the alpine type r manual or when you buy the sub, read the manual regarding the reccomended air space for a sealed box (i always reccomend a sealed box for good, tight, precision, beautiful sounding bass) and order a box (or build, like i did) and you're good to go. in terms for bridging your amp, fosgate amps will have [----bridged----] printed on the amp showing you what two terminals to connect positive and negative to and you're set. all i have to say is that with this set up, i would highly suggest getting the remote bass **** to have the control at your fingertips cuz that's going to be a lot of bass. also, i'd suggest you invest in some serious dynamat and expanding foam. good luck bro...

yup, you'll be fine bridging that fosgate amp with one sub, but putting 2 subs on that amp would be very underpowering them. i have one type-r and have it on an alpine mrd-605 (600 watts rms) and it can take it. very nice sub for the price.
