ABS and Brake lights ramdomly lighting up + F the dealer story.
Hello there:
So here is my story, I have an '05 Civic that I bought back in September '04. It was rolling on 17" Konigs for a while and now I have DX hub caps (Traded the original rims for a 96 Jetta). A few weeks ago the ABS abd Brake light lit up and wouldn't turn back off until I shut off the car... It has been going on since; lighting up at any time, but one they do they stay lit until I turn the car off.
I took my car to the dealer this morning and the **** there told me that those weren't the original EX rims I was going to have to pay 92 bucks for a technician to check the codes... What a ****ing scam! Specially since they are selling a 05 sedan in their lot with 17" aftermarket rims and a big *** sign that says "Still under warranty". Needless to say I told them to go **** themselves, got my keys back and left the dealership.
My question now is: HOw can I reset these lights or the "codes" as that fudge packer called them?
Gracias and Merry Xmas, ****os.

pretty much any light that luminates on your dash you can reset (SRS, etc.). however, the ABS light CANNOT be reset by jumping it with a pin or anything. in order for this light to turn on, you must get the problem fixed. this means that you most likely have a problem somewhere. i would suggest you start by checking your ABS sensors. a few months back, my rear driver's side ABS sensor wire got pinched by the suspension and cut the wire. when i replaced the sensor, the light turned off.
Test the ABS sensors. If faulty replace. But if you have pulleys sometimes they can cause the alternator to overcharge the system. That sounds stupid but is possible. It could also be a Electronic load detector went bad. This is under the fuse box. Even water getting into the engine bay can cause a short or get on the charging system and screw it up. ABS can only be cleared by the dealer, or someone with honda comps. These lights come on if alt. is faulty every time. They are the first to act up when the electric load of the car is too much. I dont know just some ideas. I recently had a problem with these lights(codes) and the dealer had to take off my pulley and the ABS, BRAKE, and SRS went out. Sounds crazy but Honda replaced my alt. just in case this was a fluk!! Good luck update this thread so I can see what was causing this.
