same subs, different year model...sound cancellation?

i bought 2 15" diamond audio d3's on eBay and recieved two different year models. an old model and a newer one.
here are some photos to show what im talking about:
1) http://i2.tinypic.com/23w1jyt.jpg
2) http://i4.tinypic.com/23w1k5z.jpg
3) http://i2.tinypic.com/23w1m50.jpg
4) http://i6.tinypic.com/23w1nc8.jpg

the ridged one (newer model i believe?) has a stiffer surround and more fancy print on the magnet & outer surround. and it also has a higher rating SPL (dB) and t/s parameter specs (Qms/Qes/Qts/Fs/etc). but rms watts rating is same. if theirs anything different on the t/s parameter specs, its about .01, .1, .25, or lesser (very small amount) says the owners manual.

i talked with one of diamond audios dealers (the ebay seller), and he said i will be fine and no sound cancellation will occur. im not too sure to believe him or not so ill be calling DA tomorrow morning. these 2 subs will be going into a dual sealed enclosure and im just worried if i will be fine or will i have to go thru the hassle of returning one and pay even more shipping costs.

thanks

Dual sealed enclosure as in they each have their own airspace? If thats the case then it's a non-issue. I doubt you'd be able to to pick up on cancellation anyway. I would consider this to be more of a cosmetic issue than anything.

I'd agree with what he said. As long as they are each sealed apart (as I thought they should be anyways), I think it will be fine, simply a cosmetic issue. But then again, I'm not a professional.

Lets put it this way, if you drive with stock door speakers, you probably get cancellation everyday. Unless you're about to fabricate kickpanels to correct pathlength of the higher frequencies that matter most, don't even worry about the lower ones. Either way, I'd still expect matching subs...

I agree with Jay and Rufus on this one. As long as each sub has their own separate airspace your problem will purely be a cosmetic one. An easy way to solve this problem is to face the subs towards the back seat so that when you open your trunk all you see is the back of the sub box.
