Well for starters i havn't bought any car stereo in over 6 years so im not as experienced as I have been in the past. I want to put 1 12 in my car but i want it to hit hard as h---! Have any of you guys tried the kicker solobaric L7 series? Do you think i will have enough air space in my spare tire well? I can build my own box using fiberglass so that isn't the issue. Any suggestions of subs would be great?

Thanks guys

I've always liked the JL Audio 12w6. I've tried all kinds of subs in the past and the 12w6 has always pleased me.

JL 12w7, don't think it'll fit there tho.

L7's are quite awesome.. But sealed they are not as loud as most people expect... Ported though it's an SPL monster. Sealed.. can definately compete SQ wise.. if you want a single 12..sealed that would work really well sound good and pound your brains out.. there's 2 subs that fit that description with a reasonable price.. Image Dynamics IDMAX and Eclipse 88120 aluminums.. IDMAX can be had for $305 shipped from sounddomain Eclipse for about $350 at a local shop..depends alot on what kind of amp/how much power you want... Will you be runnign a 4 channel amp and replacing stock speakers too?..

Email me at dmtp@lycos.com with your system plans and I'll help you find what you're lookin for.

Cheers

- why just one sub?
- one sub sucks, it doesn't matter how good it is, 2 10" could beat one 12
- i had an mtx system, a very simple one. 2 12" 4000s in a sealed (sealed is the best- it hits the bass notes the best), and an powerfule mtx amp putting like 330watts to each sub, they handled only 200rms.
- just get a good amp.
- great subs/bad amp will ALWAYS lose to bad subs/great amp combo.
- but if want good subs: heres my list, alumapro alchemy, diamond audio, mtx 8000s, fosgates, jl, eclipse,

There is a reason why i only want 1 sub! I have had 8 12's in a wall in the back of my old Bronco...And i used Audio Art 100HC's (2) to be exact...i couldn't ever want anything loud again.....My ears are damaged enough as it is...but that was about 5 years ago....Besides I think it is more impressive when you can take ONE woofer and shut down a pair of 12's....I know...because i have done it.....

thanks guys

Check out the alpine type R. I've had them for a while now. They hit a very wide range of frequency and sound solid.

I got 3 JL 12w6's in my trunk....and it like hurts ur ears...I would go with two nicely mounted alumapro's....or two nicely mounted 12w7's....just my thought though...and set ur amp behind a glass cover i nthe trunk with the two subs on the side set in fiber glass....that would like show car like...thats what i wanna do

- 8 12"s? what are u, stupid? i can understand if u use them for show, but it sounds like u used them for daily driving
- trust me there's no 1 12" sub that could beat 2 10", if all the surrounding conditions are the same.

I have JLs and even my cheap 12W1s pound pretty hard.

How about 2 Infinity Perfect 10s? I say 10s because they have the exact same Magnet as the 12s. and their cheaper.

My 2 JL10W3 D2's in a sealed .5 cubic feet box hit nicely, I had them in a .75 each, they hit the lows, but weren't as musical as I wanted... hence the .5 cubic feet. BTW they're powered by a kenwood ps200t.

Ever thought of 3 8's? My roomie has 3 JL w0's or 1's in his mustang bullit and they freaken hit HARD!!!! They don't have quite the lows I would want, but dang, they hurt they hit so hard.

Best SQ sub in a lot of people's opinions, including my own, are the IDMAX's, but the JL 12W7 comes in right behind it. I've personally got a pair of 12" IDQ's(dvc). For sound quality, it doesn't get any better than a properly attenuated Image Dynamics setup(IMO).
