Wattage for 8 gauge?

Ok, I've had my system for over 2 years now and I'm running 8gauge Rockford wiring to my older Alpine V12 amp thats 600watt max (powering 2 12" Type-S). I was talking to someone at a car show and they said that I should be running a lil heavier wire than what I am, so I looked up some wires and Rockford says 500watts for their 8gauge but Stinger says 600watts. So basically I'm wondering if I should upgrade the wire and if I do will the 8guage stinger be alright or should I go for the 4gauge?

I'm also running a 1.2Farad Capacitor and that uses 4gauge since those wires came with the capacitor.
Here's a lil pic to just to show...crappy wiring on the capacitor, I know.

if the amp is not 600 watt rms, id say your fine with the 8 gauge, but i always go with a size bigger just to be sure, never hurts to run bigger wire then you know that if you want to add another amp later on you dont have to change the wire.

I agree, 8 gauge should be fine for 600 watts max..
