Power steering cuts out...

My power steering cuts out on my k20a3 swap and the fluid foams up. I have no clue why it's doing this. It only happens when making slower turns other then that it'll work.

^^ not sure why it does that, but it happend to my old car where the power steering fluid would foam up and spill out every time i turn the wheel. Turns out the pump that circulates the power steering fluid was broken, so it just needed replacement. Not sure if thats what you need though. Sorry i tried to help

yeah it's odd. seems like there's air in the line still but the fluid was added properly. not unless there's a different way to add it in with honda/acura's.

How many miles are on the engine?
Did you buy the pump/assembly used?

25000kms, the pump assembly is the original that came with the engine.

90% of the time is the pump 10% is the belt.
I foams up because at lower RPMs the fluid is not circulating properly, it could be an internal seal in the pump going bad.
It would work better at high RPM's till the seal completely goes.
Is the fluid container too full ?

it doesn't seem too full right now but it's hard to tell because it's so frothy and foamy. it does work better at higher rpms although i noticed it cut out. The seals being shot seams logical. The engine itself has been sitting around for at least a couple of years so the seals in the pump would have croded from not being used.

check all the clamps for the hose fittings cause a small leak on the lines could cause it to foam.. mine did... did a little tightening and it worked fine again.. and make sure the level is topped off

If is leaking it would be easy to see, look for signs of it.

Drivetofast is an unknown quantity at this point
it will foam up becuase it is geting to hot and boiling, all you need to do is rap the high perssure line that gose over the header with some insulation

thought about that but it does it right on start up. the turbo has also got some heat wrap, so there shouldn't be enough heat to boil the fluid. otherwise my cruise control box would be melted.

not necessarily so. if it has a tiny crack on the hose where it sucks the fluid it wont necessary leak out. the crack could be small enough to not let anything out but yet when the pump starts sucking it sucks air in through that tiny hole

That seems like a possibility I'm pretty sure he already check into that.
I wonder if there is a pressure check that can be done, like pumping air or something.

ok from looking at this pic and comparing to my car i found something. the metal portion of the hose on the end is threaded. well even though it's tight there seems to be some threads still showing. Is it a possibility that there is air coming through there?

same thing happened with my swap...

there's a leak in the hosing. tighten your clamps...
if that doesn't work, by new hosing, doesn't cost much.

i added more fluid and it helped but it still cuts out, just not as bad. I filled it past the high level line.
