ive got a 0171code, it comes on once in a while and will go off by its own. a mech told me its either the pri 02 or sec 02. and yeah itsnormal thatit goes off automatically. ive no cat.and turbocharged. any1? cheers

Look into o2 simulators, just do a search.

first off, po171 is a bank 1 system too lean code, not an o2 code. and if it goes off by itself then it isnt a serious problem, but you will still need a scanner to clear it although the idiot light isnt on.

without a cat you should always have the check engine light. If a light keeps going on and off and if its from running lean you better get that fixed or your gonna be introduced to headgasket work....thats not the thing you wanna do trust me

ok.damn so its a too lean code and not a o2? ive check the plugs. it suggest the tune is gd...so still go for a retune? my AFR looks pretty fine.

it doesnt have to be running lean for too long to throw that code. so basicly your a/f can be nice but when your in decel or at whatever time its gonna read too lean for a second. its not a major code but id look into it...
