WTF??? Speedometer "breaks" this morning...
WTF is this sh*t? Goddamned car's not even three weeks old and the speedo up and breaks on me this morning. I was going through a school zone, looked down to check my speed and NOTHING. The odometer quit working as well so I suspect the entire cable has broken loose. Anybody else have this happen yet?
I should have lurked this site BEFORE I got the new Civic.

The odometer quitting isn't so bad, huh? Especially if you lease the car.
Really should get it fixed though. Without speedo working, could be costly for you. (Ticket wise)

Well, it's prolly not the cable. The thing started working like nothing happened when I left work, but then the *********a went "off" AGAIN half-way home. This VSS idea sounds pretty plausible and I'll mention it to the dealer when I take it in tomorrow.

yah take it back...your problem is nothing compared to the loaner i got...one day on the hwy...doing about 100 kph...everythings fine..as i leave for the exit...slowing down...speedo is at 100kph...when i reach a bottleneck area and stop then move again..the speedo is going 100kph + whatever speed i was at..haha...i was doing 220kph when i was going home

Took it to the dealer this A.M. Apparently the speedo head has gone bad. They've ordered the part and I'll have to take it back when it gets in. What a pain in the ***. It works fine for around twenty minutes, then goes bad.
I've been memorizing speed to RPM today so that when it is out I know how fast I'm going.

if they are replacing your whole instrument cluster, your mileage will start at 0 again, this might seem good but really isnt because it can hurt the resale value of the car, plus they record the old mileage anyway
edit: whoops forgot part of my message should make more sense now
