I have a automatic in my 01 ex and i am not getting the power i want. i need to switch to a 5 speed. does any body know what i need to do this and how much it is going to cost me.-THANKS-

just save up for a k20...u still get a manual tranny plus a good amount of hp with it.

if u just swap trannys, u wont be getting much from a d17

Manual > Auto in fun factor anyways and thats really what were all looking for.

if you want the info on it there are plenty of forums on here about it, but its not worth the $$$. If you want more power for the cheapest, put a 50 shot on it. otherwise just swap it to a k20.

Yes, go put a 50 shot on your automatic tranny like the man above with 25 posts says....


General theory is that the swap will costs between 1 and 1.5k, depending on labor. It usually is not worth your while, but to each their own.

its worth it to me, because the auto tranny takes so much power away also i miss my 5speed but i may just get an 8thgen later on but yea it has been done before just depends on what parts you need obviously transmission pedal assembly center console shifter, shift linkage, sub frame and other stuff

Does dezod have a tranny ECU that comes with paddle shifters its like $600 i think, your better off getting that than swaping trannys

to answer your question i believe its going to cost you 1000+...and anoth question...do you really need a subframe and axels off the manual??

It only cost around 500-600 for everything. You need the axels, and you can get the subframe or modify the subframe on the automatic
