I found some good info using the search and FAQ, but am looking for some new opinions on this subject.. I have 17"/7"wide /40mm offset wheels.. I am lowered 1.5" and would like a comfortable ride combined with good handling but don't want any rubbing ..from the pics below do you guys think I can fit a 215/45/17 on my new BSA 17s without them rubbing? I know some say it depends on the way your car sits so I inlcuded some pics.. My current 15" wheels and gaps are pictured below and are 195/60/15s.

go wit 205-40-17..... its more cheaper in price.....

I'm lowered on eibach sportlines which I think is a 1.5" drop and running 215/45/17 and my wheels don't rub at all. If any thing go with a a 215/40/17or like djrabbi said go with 205/40/17, those shouldn't rub at all.

it all depends how you srive. do you have a system in the trunk? a full-size spare? are your fenders rolled? if you have the system, it might rub when the weight shifts in turns. if you have a compact or full-size spare, it wouldnt rub at all, just during extreme driving conditions. but if your fenders are'nt rolld, try and get that done. it's worth it in the long run since you wont ever have to worry about it rubbing your tires off. mine rubbed after i got it aligned on my BFG-forces, and i went and got the fenders rolled ASAP. i am lowered on Skunk2 coil, KYB AGX, SPC camber kit, and sway bars and all, but i got my rears as low as they can go, and front half way. prob like a 2-2.25" drop. i got 205/50/16 tires. and no rubbing. but the 205/40/17 still might rub, it all depends on how your car sits, so be advised!

What exactly goes into rolling the fenders? I don't have anythng in the trunk, infact I have done a very mild weight redux by taking out everything back there except for the spare tire. I even put my jack and stuff under the drivers seat.

205/40/17 most likely won't rub with that much gap. If you put a 205/40/17, they gap will be even bigger, so less chance of rubbing.

It doesn't look like 215/45/17 would rub, but you never know. I have 205/45/17, and my tires rubbed slightly in the rear, only over certain bumps in the road. I had to add negative camber in the rear. I'm dropped lower than you though.

205/40/17 is the best choice to go with, but the ride is not as nice. Its all trial and error. You just have to try it out and see if it'll rub. That's the only way you can find out, no one can give you the answer to this question. I've heard of people being fine with 215/45/17, and I've heard stories of rubbing with 215/45/17.
