mt shudder when cold
mt shudder when cold
i have an issue but i don't know how serious it is. it only happens when my mt is cold. (left over night with lower temps) when shifting from 1st into 2nd, while i let the clutch out and start to give it some gas it kinda feels like its skipping, not severe skipping, the car still pulls, but feels strange. the car feels normal after it (either the engine or the tranny, not sure) warms up (approx 2-3 stop signs later) it happens less often from 2nd gear into 3rd, but if i time the clutch release at just the right time, it'll feel like a less severe 'skipping'. <--i really don't know how else to describe it. more like a slight shudder. yah thats a better word.
i'd take it to the dealer but like i said, after a few mins of driving it goes away completely. i guess i could explain it to them but i'd rather they get a demonstration. i have an injen sri and a revo ss. <--the only mods other than some 17" rims. any thoughts?

I have it too... I just let the car warm up for a minute or two on a real cold day, seems to take care of the problem. Just be real easy on it until it reaches close to normal operating temp.

i get it too. but i have an aftermarket clutch.
try being more smooth on the clutch pedal when releasing it. my car was in the shop because of the tranny...when i got it back (with a new clutch) i noticed it. i took it back to the shop and they said they could only get it to shudder when they "babied" the clutch. he said to make my foot action more smooth.
its hard because with a stiffer clutch you tend to want to let it out slowly until it hits the biting point...but that is whats causing it. once i stopped babying the release and started trying to make the release motion one quick, fluid motion it got better.
i know you don't have an aftermarket clutch, but try it

no cuz it only does it when i baby the clutch. like say you're at a stop light and when it turns green the *** in front of you accelorates REALLY slowly...so you give it ever so much gas and let the clutch out ever so slowly so you dont rear end him...if i do that, then it will sometimes shutter...but when i take off normally its fine.

yeah..i did some searching on here and some1 said it could be some contamination on the clutch or something like that...but i think it would have worn off by now.
i really don't get it much any more though, now that i know it comes from being to slow on the clutch.
i have the same thing with my clutch i am thinking its from it being worn out since it only started in the last 10 k miles (i have 50 k now). my tranny has already been rebuilt once too. you would think honda would have designed things better. i guess they figure most people wont beat on their car like i do to mine.
