I've got a 12" L7 in a medium sized ported box and I'm thinking about switching to a sealed box. I used to have a 12" MB Quart in a sealed box and I really liked the sound of it. How does the L7 sound in a medium to large sealed box?

That's a pretty specific question. Obviously the 'basic' trend in sound is if you go from ported to sealed, it'll sound "tighter"

stick with ported i'd say, ive heard sealed is usually 3db lower than ported. dont quote me on that tho.

I know that ported boxes are louder, but I'm interested in the sound quality differences... I know, I know solo barics are geared more towards SPL, but i'm still curious about what the differences would be.

yes ported boxes are louder, from my experience with the same sub used in two applications, i found that the origional sealed box had a very "clean" sound and accurate response. When i changed it to ported, it was louder, but not as "accurate" as the sealed design. If its for a sub, i say let her pound and keep it ported
